MARKET OUTLOOK

Week began on a buoyant note as Nifty rose to fresh highs and edged closer to 5400 while
Sensex closed in on 18k. It was literally an assault on indices as most of the heavyweights
had strong momentum. So we had strong gains in Tata Steel, RIL, Bharti, ICICI, DLF, Bajaj
Auto and Hero Honda. Only sectors to miss out were Oil mktg stocks as well as IT to some
extent. Banking and metals were the leaders again as many banks rose to fresh highs. Tata
Steel sped to almost 20 months high while sharp gains were seen in other metal stocks like
Hindalco and Sterlite. The buoyancy spread to mid and small caps also and the breadth was
extremely positive. Some of the other prominent gainers apart from the big guns were
Allahabad Bank, Andhra Bank, DCHL, Jain Irrigations, Reliance Infra, Nagarjuna
constructions, Godrej Ind, Praj and Ind Info. Prominent amongst the losers were Fortis, IOC,
Idea and BPCL.

MARKET OUTLOOK

Markets had a strong opening for the week as positive global cues further aided the bullish momentum. But
though the markets did manage to close with some gains, it surely did fail to build on these gains as higher
levels attracted some profit taking. It was more of stock churning as far as the heavyweights were
concerned. So while Tata Motors saw some profit taking, M&M witnessed strong buying. RIL slipped on
selling but SBI registered good gains. Metals were also more or less in a sideways mode as were the IT
heavyweights. Cement counters continued their good run and it was Ambuja Cement that registered the
smartest gains within the sector. It was up almost 5% to hit almost 2 years high. Realty opened on positive
note but failed to move further and in fact ended amongst the prominent losers of the day. Amongst the
major gainers were LITL, Essar Oil, Ambuja, Allahabad Bank, Aban, M&M, Siemens, Apollo Tyre, Lupin
and MLL while the losers included OBC, Unitech, DCHL, Union Bank, Ranbaxy, Tech Mahindra and
Mphasis.

The Appeal Of Forex Trading Versus The Stock Market

The Forex trading has become more appealing than the stock market during recent years for many reasons. The chance of a much higher rate of return is the main reason. While currency on the Forex may only fluxuate only one or two percent on any given day, investors who can see where it is going, will properly plan an entrance and exit strategy. That is to say when to get in and how to get out. Another appealing fact is that there is more leverage in the Forex. For example, $100,000 US dollars can be bought with as little as $10,000 leverage when purchased through margins. Buying currency this way allows for the chance of higher returns, with less risk, even if the return is only one
percent.
